Just to give a sense of the prices for food down here.... For 200 Mexican pesos (roughly $16) I just purchased the following:
3 medium sized white onions
1 head of garlic
1 lb of quesillo (local, salty, stringy cheese)
1 lb queso (local, salty, crumbly cheese)
1 lb raisins
2 mini mangoes
1/2 a chicken
1 lb chorizo
2 lbs rice
2 stalks of cilantro
3 limes
1 pint red mole paste (trying it at home!)
Pretty good deal, huh?
